Paul Elliott MBE CBE

Paul Elliott MBE CBE

Paul is a ground-breaking, former professional footballer having played for Charlton, Luton, Aston Villa, Bari (Italy), Celtic (Scotland) and Chelsea. He was Celtic’s first black player and Chelsea’s first black captain. He was voted Most Valuable Defender in Italy; Player of The Year in Scotland and Chelsea Player of The Year in his debut season. His playing career was cruelly cut short following a knee injury.

Paul was awarded CBE for services to equality and diversity in football – having previously been awarded MBE for his work with young players and anti-racism. Paul was the first player in Premier League history to receive such recognition.

Paul is an international diversity ambassador for UEFA and an anti-racism ambassador for International Federation of Professional Footballers. He is also on the Board of UEFA representing the FA on anti-discrimination and corporate social responsibility.
