It seemed somewhat appropriate that Board Apprentice should formally launch in the UK at the House of Lords (on 2nd July 2015). Parliament is sometimes viewed as a place for those from traditional circles and with a certain background and not reflective of wider society – much like the upper echelons of many institutions, companies, professions and organisations.

Of course, times are changing. It is a business imperative to secure the best talent from the widest possible pools and the benefits of true, merit-based diversity are accepted. As a result, we are now seeing more distinct individuals blazing a trail for others to follow. In spite of this, progress, especially for businesses, has been slow and there have been few practical solutions to the diversity pipeline challenge – until now, that is.
